Sobre a obra:
Marlowe é um dos principais dramaturgos e poetas ingleses, e não é raro dizer que ele é o principal, abaixo de Shakespeare. Alguns estudiosos afirmam inclusive que Shakesperare deve muito de sua fama às colaborações diretas de Marlowe, numa época em que a noção de autoria era relativa.
No filme Shakespeare in Love (1998), Marlowe é mostrado como um amigo e rival artístico de Shakespeare, tendo contribuído com a escrita de Romeu e Julieta, uma das principais peças do bardo inglês.
Entre as várias obras escritas por Marlowe, uma das mais conhecidas no Brasil é The Tragicall History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus, uma leitura particular do Fausto alemão.
